This Privacy Policy explains how Reel Transcript (https://reeltranscript.app) collects and uses information when you use our website and caption-extraction tool.

Who we are

Reel Transcript is an independent web tool that reads existing public captions from short-form video URLs you paste. Contact: jokimina1@gmail.com.

What we do (and do not do)

  • We process the public URL you submit to check for caption/subtitle data the platform already exposes.
  • We do not download or store video files.
  • We do not run speech-to-text / ASR on audio.
  • We do not require an account for the free daily limit.

Information we collect

Usage cookie (free tier)

To enforce the free limit of 3 transcripts per day, we set a first-party browser cookie that stores a simple usage count and reset window. Clearing cookies resets the local counter on that browser. We do not use this cookie to build a personal profile across sites.

Analytics (Microsoft Clarity)

We use Microsoft Clarity (project ID ycfsgrbb97) to understand how people use the site (page views, clicks, session replays). Clarity may set its own cookies and process device/browser technical data under Microsoft’s terms. You can learn more in Microsoft’s privacy documentation.

Clarity loads only after you select Allow in the cookie banner. Selecting Decline prevents Clarity from loading; changing a previous choice sends a denied consent signal and removes Clarity session cookies where applicable.

Contact form

If you send a message via /contact, we receive the name, email, and message you provide so we can reply. We use that information only for support.

Server logs

Like most websites, our hosting provider (Vercel) and DNS/CDN (Cloudflare) may process standard request metadata (IP address, user agent, timestamps) for security, debugging, and abuse prevention.

What we do not sell

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use pasted video URLs to build advertising profiles.

Transcripts and URLs

Transcript text is generated for your browser session so you can copy or download it. We do not operate a permanent transcript archive tied to your identity. Do not paste URLs you are not allowed to access; only public URLs are supported.

Third-party platforms

Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, and similar platforms are independent services. Their privacy practices apply when you visit them. Reel Transcript is not affiliated with Meta, ByteDance, Google, or those products.

Children’s privacy

The service is not directed at children under 13. Do not use the tool if you are under the age where you can consent to online services in your region.

Data retention

  • Free-tier cookie: short-lived, resets with the daily quota window or when you clear cookies.
  • Contact emails: kept as long as needed to respond and for basic record-keeping.
  • Analytics: retained according to Clarity / Microsoft defaults.

Your choices

  • Clear site cookies in your browser to reset the free-tier counter on that device.
  • Use browser controls / Microsoft tools to limit Clarity where available.
  • Email us to request deletion of a contact-form message we still hold.

Changes

We may update this policy as the product changes (for example, when paid accounts or additional extractors ship). The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do.
